Otzi the Iceman and Brad Pitt's TattooThe tattoo on Brad Pitt's inner left forearm is an outline figure of a man named Otzi the Iceman. And this rather unique tattoo design has many people speculating on the meaning of why Brad has this particular tattoo on his arm. ![]() On September 19, 1991, Helmut and Erika Simon, two tourists from Huremberg, Germany were hiking along the borders of Austria and Italy when they came upon what turned out to be a natural mummy submerged and frozen into ice from the torso down. Stumbling upon this site, Helmut and Erika summoned the Austrian authorities that unaware of its ancient age, removed the body using a small jackhammer and ice axes, as spectators flocked to the site and took pieces of material from the corpse before as it was being removed from the ice. This natural mummy was brought to a morgue in Innsbruck where an autopsy determined the body was from 3300BC, and the ice covering believed to be what saved him from deteriorating. The body was later named Otzi the Iceman. Scientific calculates Otzi the Iceman, was 45 years old, 5'5” and 110 pounds, and tattooed with 57 tribal “carbon tattoos.” His tattoos include: two parallel stripe bracelets on his left wrist, a “cruciform mark” on the inside of his right knee and left ankle, and groups of lines around the spine in his back, his right foot and ankle, and left calf. Based on these findings and evidence, scientists have two theories about Iceman's tattoos. The first is that the tattoos were given for medicinal purposes as a sort of acupuncture for arthritis in the joints. The second is that they are an aesthetic of the skin marking the passage from childhood to manhood. Evidently, Otzi the Iceman wasn't taking questions about the reasons for getting his tattoos. And, although Brad's forearm tattoo has been identified, the question that remains on everyone's mind is “Why Brad, why? And, does Brad Pitt now have tattoo regret and will he seek tattoo removal? |
