Tattoos are Popular Among NBA Players
The majority of the professional athletes shown on television and gracing the covers of popular magazines are financially fortunate making sizable incomes. Showcased throughout their sport's seasons on nationally televised games many popular well-known athletes are endorsed by leading brand companies, such as Nike making them even larger idols to their fans. So if adoring fans will go out and buy the clothing labels and brand shoes endorsed by their favorite athletes they would probably get the same tattoo designs as their top players if the athletes had one. The NBA (National Basketball Association) is one professional sport with heavy tattoo “coverage.” Nearly 30 percent of NBA players have at least one tattoo, compared to approximately 4 percent of the total U.S. population. This is not to say the athletes in other professional sports such as the NFL (National Football League), NHL (National Hockey League) and MLB (Major League Baseball) don't have tattoos under wraps. The uniforms worn by NBA players do not cover as much of the body as the other professional sport uniforms. Therefore tattoos are more visible in the NBA and there are certainly many to see. The tattoo designs sported by NBA players have become part of a cool style image just like the brand their brand of shoes and the clothing they wear. Americans are definitely fans of following fads. So will the next cool trend actually be removing your tattoo “label?” Americans will have to wait patiently for the “ink coverage” on the future of tattoo removal in professional sports.
