The Word Tattoo - Meaning and Definition

Tattoo is defined as a permanent mark or design below the skin from the insertion of a foreign substance (ink pigment, led, debris etc.)

There are five types of tattoos: amateur, professional, cosmetic, medicinal, and traumatic.

Tattoos are commonly an intentional design created on an area of skin by a process of using a sharp instrument to prick and inject ink or other pigments below the skin’s surface.

Tattoos can also result from an injury or an accident, such a pencil led tip mistakenly jabbed into the skin, or gravel and tiny rocks imbedded into the skin resulting from an accidentally fall.

Temporary tattoo designs can now be made on the skin with dye such as henna or ink that fade away naturally with the process of skin cell renewal.
